2026-2027 Informational Release

Exciting Changes Coming to Central Outlaws Hockey for the 2026-2027 Season!

Attention Parents and Players!

Central Outlaws is proud to announce Mike Radja as our new Director of Hockey for the upcoming 2026-2027 season! Bringing his extensive experience and passion for the game, Mike will personally be attending all travel team practices next season and will be listed as a coach on all travel team rosters.

Mike will be selecting head coaches for all teams to join him on the ice next season. If you're interested, please submit your application by February 15, 2026, to mike@speedskillshockey.com. You can find application forms at the Community Recreational Center or on the Central Outlaws website.

In addition to Mike, we’re excited to welcome Austin Block, MacCrae McCarthy, and goalie coach John Ives to our already successful development program. They will enhance our coaching staff and continue to build on our tradition of excellence.

What to Expect:

  • Squirt through Bantam Travel Teams will have three practices per week and home ice every Sunday all season long
  • Midget Programs kick off in mid-August and run until the start of the High School season.

Mike will oversee the selection of teams across the following age levels:

  • Squirt Travel NTB Minor & NTB Major
  • Pee Wee Travel NTB & TB
  • Bantam Travel NTB & TB
  • Midget Travel Teams (15u, 16u, 18u)

Mike Radja will be named on all team rosters as a coach.

Tryout Information: The Central Outlaws tryout schedule is now posted below, detailing application forms and deadlines. This season, we’re excited to offer:

  • Squirt through Bantam: 75 to 100 practices, 30 to 40 games, and 3 tournaments
  • Midget Programs: 25 to 30 practices, 16 games, and 2 tournaments

Assisting Mike in creating a powerful and successful training program, the Fingerlakes Regional Hockey Board has amended some of our previous bylaws, allowing any player to attend this season’s tryouts! If you wish to be considered for our Tournament-bound or non-Tournament bound travel teams, please join us for tryouts!

Coaching Opportunities: We are also looking for certified coaches! If you hold proper NYSAHA and USA Hockey certifications or are willing to obtain them, please fill out a coaching application form and submit it to mike@speedskillshockey.com by February 15, 2026.

FLRHA Central Outlaws Information Guide for 2026-2027 season

Home Games hosted at  “CRC- The Rink”

Practices hosted at the Rink with a select few at the JM McDonald Center

Travel Team Tryouts (Squirt 10U through Midgets 18U):

This includes all Squirt through Midgets trying out for the Outlaws- tournament bound and non tournament bound (independent travel) teams

Tryout fees are made payable by check: Finger Lakes Regional Hockey Assoc./FLRHA)

  • Players attending tryouts that were not registered as Central Outlaws last year are not required to show proof of player release form. However, if appear on the Central Section player obligation list you will not be permitted to tryout.  
  • There will be a $200.00 jersey fee for any new player or current Outlaw needing a new jersey prior to the end of the April tryouts.

 Selection Process and announcement of Travel teams:

  • Rosters will be selected by Mike Radja, Director of Hockey, and posted with selected players for the 2026-2027 season on www.fingerlakeshockey.com.
  • Player/Association Commitment forms are to be signed immediately upon receipt after rosters are posted.

Travel Team Fees

  • Learn To Play: FREE
  • Mites 8U: $680
  • 10U, 12U, 14U: $1850 plus tournament entry fees
  • Midget 15U/ 16U/ 18U Split Season: $1050 plus tournament entry fees

Schedule Objective: To balance home and away contests while scheduling competitive games. This will minimize travel costs as well as have a 3:1 / 4:1 ratio of practices to games.

Travel Season and Schedule (tournament bound and independent travel teams):

  • Practice & Season begin in early September for 10U-14U (3 practices per week, plus 1 home game slot every weekend)
  • Games begin in September and conclude by first week of March (1 home ice slot every weekend per team at CRC) (14U-18U Teams advancing to States will continue thru late March)
  • Midget 15u/16u/18u teams will begin season no later than August 15th to satisfy USA hockey game count requirements
          ~6 team practices, required before the first game
          ~4 individual practices, required before first game

Game limit guidelines per level per season:

  • Bantam      30   +  3 Away Tournaments or overnight event
  • PeeWee     30   +  3 Away Tournaments or overnight event
  • Squirts        30   + 3 Away Tournaments or overnight event
  • 16 u            20    + 2 Away Tournaments or overnight event
  • 18 u            20    + 2 Away Tournaments or overnight event

Fall sport seasons take the precedence over the beginning of hockey season. Parents should manage participation accordingly and work with coaches.

Guidelines for athletes:

  • One practice “option” per day allowed, (any Fall school sport)  “Fall” In policy – “Spring Out” policy
  • Recommended one game per day per team (tournaments excluded)
  • One day off per week
  •  Three hockey game weekends are not recommended unless roster size is a minimum of 13 skater player quantity. Tournaments and Midget programs are exceptions.  

Tournaments or overnight Events:

  • SQ , PW, BANTAMS travel teams may schedule a maximum of three tournaments and one overnight event. Away tournaments or overnight event weekends are funded 100% by parents.  
  • The scheduling tournament or overnight limitation excludes advancement in tournaments such as Sectionals or NYS State Tournament. Parents/Guardians and coaches will be responsible to fund additional advancement tournament play.
  • 16u and 18u two overnight events are permitted and are the financial burden of each team.
  • Squirt, Pee Wee, Bantam NTB travel #2 teams two tournaments and one overnight event are permitted and are the financial burden of the team.
  • All Tournament entry fees will be paid directly by Finger lakes Regional Hockey Assoc. Team managers will be responsible for collecting fees from parents submitting to Finger Lakes and then payment will be made directly from Finger Lakes to Tournament director or company. 
  • The board of directors and its tournament director with coaches will work together to select proper tournaments of all age divisions.

School attendance is important: Therefore, scheduling efforts will be made to eliminate the need for athletes to be absent from school (this is not always possible as many tournaments begin on a Friday).

MITE AND LEARN TO PLAY (I.P.) PROGRAMS:

Mite and Initiation programs:
Mites ages 7 & 8 may be separated into two division first year players and second year players.

  • First year - Practice training and in-house games against one another and randomly other teams
  • Second year – Practice training and games against other associations some travel
  • Move Up Policy- If a first- year player shows exceptional skills he will be moved to advanced second year age division.

All Mite parents must register players through www.fingerlakeshockey.com prior to entering the ice surface. NO Exceptions.  All aspects of registration including payment must be completed by this time.

Initiation Program ages 4,5,6 begins in October. All players must register through www.fingerlakeshockey.com before entering the ice.
